If you value learning by doing, participating in activities, and growing into a better person while you’re at college, we want to meet you.

We try to make applying to UJ as easy as possible. Here’s how:

  • Applying is FREE.
  • The application should take no more than 15 minutes.
  • You don’t need official transcripts to apply.
  • No ACT or SAT? No problem. Our application is test optional.
(Sure, we could base your admission on how you did during the four most stressful hours of your life. But, we’d rather look at your transcripts and see what you’ve done for the past four years!)

Admission Criteria

Our only admission requirement is a GPA of 2.5 or higher upon completion of high school or your GED. But, we also know every student has a story. If you don’t meet this criterion—but believe UJ is the right place for you—you should still apply. Share your background, your plans for the future, and what makes you unique. And we’ll go from there!

Applications will be reviewed based on transcripts, chosen program of study, and a brief essay outlining your plans for success in college.

Apply in 3 Easy Steps

  1. Complete an online application.

It’s free and only takes 15 minutes.

2. Submit your high school transcript or GED certificate.
These don’t need to be official. A photo from your phone works just fine! Once you complete your online application, submit your transcripts one of the following ways:

  • Email: admission@uj.edu
  • Fax: 701-253-4318
  • Mail:
    Office of Admission
    University of Jamestown
    6081 College Lane
    Jamestown, ND 58405

3. Stay in touch!

We’ll text, email, or call if we’re missing any information.

Deadlines and Response Time

Apply early! University of Jamestown operates on a rolling admissions policy, meaning we don’t have a hard deadline for applications. Instead, we evaluate applications as we receive them. We continue until we’ve filled all of the open slots for our incoming class.

An admission decision will be made within a week of receiving your completed application and transcripts.
