The University of Jamestown seeks to hire a nurse educator to serve as an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Nursing. Course assignments vary according to departmental needs and applicant area of expertise. The position is a fulltime, 9-month contract. This position will begin August 2023.

Minimum requirements:

The University of Jamestown Libraries is seeking an Electronic Resources and Distance Learning Librarian (ERDLL) who is responsible for providing optimized access to the libraries’ online resources, overseeing the technical service department operations, and providing research assistance primarily to UJ’s Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) program students, faculty, and staff. The ERDLL reports to the Director of Libraries and works closely with colleagues in the Reference and Instruction Services. The position is vacant and is available immediately.

 

Minimum requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program, or other relevant advanced information science degree at the time of hire.
  • Coursework or experience with teaching information literacy skills and providing reference services.
  • Coursework or experience in descriptive cataloging, and subject classification of materials in all formats.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, set appropriate priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team setting.

 

Preferred requirements:

  • Knowledge of online databases, electronic resources, and integrated library systems as applied to the academic library setting.
  • Experience working with library systems, preferably ExLibris Alma, and other tools such as Springshare products.
  • Strong commitment to information literacy, customer service, and support of the academic and research needs of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct on-campus and distance students in the use of library resources, both electronic and print.
  • Ability to work a flex schedule to meet the demands of the position, including evenings and occasional weekends.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Serves as the liaison librarian for UJ’s Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) to engage in the promotion of online collections, subject guides, and reference services.
  2. Develops and maintains research guides and tutorials to support GPS students and faculty educational and research activities.
  3. Provides support and training to GPS users for the libraries’ electronic resources including databases, citation management, and research tools.
  4. Provides one-to-one virtual and in-person research help consultation for GPS students.
  5. Serves as the primary systems manager for ALMA/Primo (ExLibris) library integrated system and provides technical expertise for library staff.
  6. Develops and maintains documentation of cataloging and metadata workflows and procedures for continuous improvement of library resource discovery and access.
  7. Performs electronic resources maintenance work such as activating or deactivating subscriptions, updating vendor authentication settings, checking Permalinks, and troubleshooting online access issues.
  8. Analyzes and interprets electronic usage statistics such as counter reports and turnaways in support of implementing user-centered library collections and services.
  9. Serve on University committees as appropriate and maintain professional knowledge through participation in appropriate state, regional, and national library (and related) organizations.
  10.   Other library-related duties and projects as assigned.
  11.   Primary work location is negotiable: Jamestown or Fargo, ND. Travel between the two campuses is required for training and department meetings.

Core Faculty Position Responsibilities:

The position is a 12-month full-time commitment. The position will include teaching, which includes course development, primary instruction, team-teaching, and participation in curricular meetings. Teaching responsibilities include areas of expertise. Other areas of teaching will be considered based on teaching interest and program needs.

As a full time faculty member, service and the development of an active scholarly research agenda will also be required.  Teaching and research mentorship will be provided.  Service may include participation in program committee work, accreditation work, and other activities assigned by the UJPT Program Director. Faculty members are also allowed to maintain some clinical hours in order to maintain currency in the clinic for professional development.

Residence Life Mission

The Residence Life department at the University of Jamestown fosters engaging communities where students have the opportunity to live, learn, and thrive. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
– Provide direct supervision to undergraduate Resident Assistant (RA) staff; conducting regular staff meetings and staff one-on-one meetings.

– Manage and organize residence halls operations, including, but not limited to, room assignments, rosters, emergency cards, roommate contracts, keys, check-in/outs, building maintenance/custodial requests, and general upkeep of the building housing operations

– Assist in housing processes such as sign-up, reassignments, and check-ins/check-outs.

– Carry out health and safety checks and inspect rooms upon checkout; assessing fines and damages as needed

– Participate in recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of residence life staff members and participate in all trainings

– Support community building and development in the halls and across campus

– Support and implement residence hall programming specifically targeted for particular student populations; coordinating with Assistant Resident Director and Resident Assistants as needed

– Attend all major programming events in the residence hall

– Expected to adhere to and sign upon employment, the Residence Life Mission, Values, and Ethics Statement

– Know, enforce, and abide by all college and general law enforcement policies

– Serve as a role model for the campus community

– Ensure safety and security of the residence halls and across campus; including all crisis response

– Participate in campus on-call professional staff rotation and schedule residence hall building coverage

– Must work at least one holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Spring Break, and Easter).  Must meet expectations set by the Director of Residence Life

– Respect and maintain appropriate staff and student confidentiality

– Escalate “advanced” student issues to the appropriate resources, on or off campus and follow up as needed

– Provide point of contact for the students throughout their matriculation, focused on building rapport and relationships

– Responsible for continued design, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs that potentially impact retention

– Responsible for maintaining and reporting residence hall budget; submitting purchase orders as needed

– Coordinate educational discipline processes for both residents and student staff in respective complexes (Housing Student Conduct)

– Performs other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to Judicial Responsibilities, Counseling/ Conflict Management, Administrative/Budgetary Responsibilities
This position is considered a “Live On” position, and the Residence Director is expected to reside on campus within an assigned residence hall, Residence Director apartment.

Housing: Partially furnished apartment within a residence hall

Meal Plan: Based on your needs, you will have the opportunity to select one of four meal plan options at the University of Jamestown

Graduate Assistant

The University of Jamestown (NAIA), located in Jamestown, ND, is seeking applicants for a
Graduate Assistant for our men’s wrestling program.

UJ is a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference and competes in the state-of-the-art Harold Newman Arena. UJ also has a large wrestling room and weight room.

A graduate assistant coaching position at the University of Jamestown offers the successful applicant a path towards a coaching career. The ideal candidate will have a strong wrestling background and the knowledge to assist the program with coaching, practice planning, recruiting, office work and all other phases of the men’s wrestling program. The successful applicant must acquire a valid CDL license by the beginning of the season and the candidate must be willing to drive for team travel.

The University of Jamestown (NAIA), located in Jamestown, ND, is seeking applications for two Sports Information Graduate Assistants.
A graduate assistant position at the University of Jamestown offers the successful applicant a path towards a professional career.

The successful candidate will assist the Sports Information Director in all facets of the sports information office. They will assist with game management, including in-game stat keeping using DakStats software, coordinating webcasts of home events using Production Truck/Wirecast software, and other game day duties as assigned.

They will assist the SID with website management, including game stories and sport program updates.  They will also promote University of Jamestown student-athletes and coaches across traditional and emerging media communication vehicles.  A successful candidate will be able to help with the design and layout of several publications, historical research and accurate archiving of athletic records, and building photographical databases.

The Graduate Assistant will serve as in-house sports information representative when the SID is on the road with UJ teams. The Graduate Assistant may be required to travel with teams on certain occasions.

Requirements include: a familiarity with college sports, strong grasp of English language and ability to write coherent press releases and sports stories, and the willingness to learn on the fly. The successful applicant must be available for the majority of fall, winter, and spring; including evenings and weekends.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and must be accepted into University of Jamestown graduate school. Applicants should have strong oral and written communication skills. Previous experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, DakStats, and Microsoft Office software is a plus. Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

  • Recruiting efforts, including campus visits, traveling to junior or high school meets, etc.

Physical Demands:

  • Work outside in potentially extreme weather and temperatures at meets
  • Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Work potentially long hours, including early mornings
  • Lift and transport equipment up to 50 lbs.

University of Jamestown is seeking applicants for the position of Women’s Soccer graduate assistant (GA) for a 2-year period, beginning August 1, 2023. Qualified applicants will assist in fostering a highly competitive and positive team culture where high-quality relationships with fellow coaches and student-athletes are emphasized. The GA will collaborate with the head coach to prepare practice plans and directly assist with strategic and personnel decisions.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Recruiting student-athletes, on and off field skill instruction, goalkeeper training, office duties, assist with daily practice plans, and other administration/operational duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coaching experience is desired with the purpose of coaching as a career

This position reports to the Head Coach. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: recruiting, coaching, counseling, player development, monitoring academic progress, scouting, alumni events, fundraising events and other duties assigned by the head coach or athletic director. 

Recruiting- includes travel, identification of potential student athletes, phone calls to both US and international students. Will travel five to six times per year and depends on the recruiting class.

Coaching includes planning preseason sessions, along with dynamic protocol each week and working hand in hand with Head Coach on each day’s tactical session.  Traveling to all games and dealing with game day events.

Office duties include setting up contests, hotel booking, putting travel itineraries together, valid driver’s license for CDL license and managing equipment duties.

The University of Jamestown is seeking a motivated, competitive, high-energy individual to serve as Graduate Assistant for our Men’s Volleyball program.  The GA for volleyball will support the head and assistant volleyball coaches and be responsible for assisting with practices, recruitment, retention, fundraising, camps and the overall student-athlete experience.

Specific elements include but are not limited to:

  • Coach the position(s) or segments necessary as directed by the head coach.
  • Assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of practices and game plans as necessary.
  • Assists head coach in oversight of academic programming.
  • Serve as head coach for the JV program.
  • Recruit individual student-athletes or territories as directed by the head coach.
  • Drive University or rental vehicles as needed.  Complete training to receive a Class C CDL.
  • Perform special and/or additional duties as required by the Director of Athletics.
