The University of Jamestown seeks to hire a nurse educator to serve as an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Nursing. Course assignments vary according to departmental needs and applicant area of expertise. The position is a fulltime, 9-month contract. This position will begin August 2023.
Minimum requirements:
- Earned master’s degree in nursing or current enrollment in a master’s degree program in nursing
- Five years’ experience in nursing
- Current unencumbered nursing license in the state of North Dakota, or the ability to obtain licensure.

The University of Jamestown invites applications for the position of Program Director and Professor (rank to be determined) in its Behavioral Health program. The position is located in Phoenix, Arizona, and will ideally begin on or around July 1, 2023.
The faculty member will oversee all aspects of the program including student apprenticeships and clinical activities, the curriculum, the management of partnerships with behavioral health organizations throughout the Phoenix metro, and student advising. Additionally, the director will collaborate with a team of individuals located across the country including the Clinical Counseling Program Director, instructional designers, assessment experts, and university administrators to meet program outcomes.

The University of Jamestown’s Unruh School of Character in Leadership invites applications for three full-time open rank faculty positions.
In May 2023, the University of Jamestown received a gift of $15 million from Jim (‘63) and Candy Unruh, the largest in our history, for the creation of the Unruh School of Character in Leadership and the renovation of the University’s chapel, establishing a new Center for Faith and Life. The University of Jamestown seeks a dynamic marketing and external relations leader capable of expanding the institution’s visibility before regional, national and international audiences to serve as its next Vice President for Marketing and External Relations. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing an integrated marketing and communications plan and brand management strategy to advance the University’s strategic vision. The Vice President will work extensively with the Executive Vice President and Provost, the Vice President for Enrollment Management, and the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations to promote student recruitment and retention efforts, fundraising and alumni relations, the University’s strong academic reputation, employee engagement, community relations, media relations, and offer creative solutions that align with, and ultimately advance, the strategic goals of the University.
Working closely with the Director of Marketing, the VP serves as the chief University spokesperson demonstrating success in preparing and executing crisis communications, handling complicated and sensitive issues and displaying flexibility in changing situations. The successful candidate will collaborate with a wide range of campus partners to provide communications guidance to University leadership and ensure that University messaging is clear and consistent across all platforms and channels. He or she will collaborate directly with and act as a key strategic advisor and manager of special projects for the President and may represent her in her absence.
ESSENTIAL DEPARTMENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a collaborative effort to build upon UJ’s integrated, University-wide strategic communications and marketing program that promotes UJ’s identity, priorities, and accomplishments to internal and external audiences. Ensure that strategies integrate multiple communication channels and tactics, including digital, print, social, editorial, and media relations.
- Promote University success stories and the President’s voice through a mix of tactics, including but not limited to media relations, thought leadership content, and high-touch events.
- Further define and refine key metrics and data reports used to analyze the effectiveness of all programs and activities, creating a culture of continual testing, learning, and optimization that will lead to data-informed proposals and decisions and link budgets and expenditures to measurable outcomes. Establish a reporting structure for leadership and internal teams with the goal of ongoing improvement of performance.
- Oversee communications and marketing activities that engage the University of Jamestown’s external constituents, including prospective students and families, alumni, donors, and influencers. Collaborate with departments across campus and their chairs, most significantly in graduate and undergraduate admission and institutional advancement, to ensure quality and creativity of institutional presentation and optimization across digital, media, and print channels.
- Protect the University’s reputation at all times by developing and implementing proactive and comprehensive crisis communications and issues management strategies, rapid response communications, and other communication strategies that become necessary from time to time.
- Serve on the College’s Emergency Response Team as the Public Information Officer. Oversee the articulation of the college’s positions on complex and sensitive issues, ensuring that the institution’s mission and accomplishments are advanced effectively.
- Oversee the relevant groundwork (such as market and brand research and testing) necessary to inform the amplification of UJ’s brand identity and messaging architecture. The brand identity framework will be well-defined and articulated, aligned to the University of Jamestown’s strategic plan, and mission and vision, and followed by internal and external audiences. Throughout this process, create an effective partnership network across all of UJ’s stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
- Maintain effective working relationships with key local, state, and national media outlets and ensure that the college is well-represented in news media by spokespeople and other individuals. Monitor statewide and national educational trends, especially those with implications for UJ.
- Design, facilitate, and contribute to internal communication strategies and tactics in partnership with departments across campus.
- Take an engaged approach to coaching, mentoring, and guiding the teams in the Office of Marketing and External Relations in order to set clear goals and performance objectives and a vision for the future.
- Provide advisement and project management to the President on special initiatives that contribute to the advancement of the University’s mission and vision.
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required in marketing, communications, or a related field; advanced degree is preferred.
- 10-plus years of experience in marketing and communications management at a level appropriate to provide leadership to a broad set of outcomes.

The University of Jamestown (NAIA) is accepting applications for two Assistant Athletic Trainers. This is a full-time 10-month position, with full benefit package. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The selected candidates will conduct themselves within the ideals, goals, rules and regulations set forth by University of Jamestown, the NATA, NAIA and Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). The successful candidate will embrace and promote the mission of the University of Jamestown.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer reports to the Athletic Director and Head Athletic Trainer. The successful candidates are responsible for assisting in the management and care of athletic teams at the University of Jamestown, which is a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The successful candidates will assist with the supervision and coverage of 23 varsity and junior varsity sports. The candidates must demonstrate the ability and knowledge of injury prevention programs, injury evaluation, injury treatment, and rehabilitation of student athletes.
Successful candidates will have home game coverage, practice coverage, maintaining of medical records, and away travel considerations (10%) with assigned teams as necessary.

The Residence Life and Public Safety department oversees student residential facilities through staff development, residential education, individual student engagement, and programmatic offerings. Additionally, the department oversees UJ’s Student Code of Conduct as well as campus wide public safety and Clery Act reporting. Graduate Assistant
The University of Jamestown (NAIA), located in Jamestown, ND, is seeking applications for two Sports Information Graduate Assistants.
A graduate assistant position at the University of Jamestown offers the successful applicant a path towards a professional career.
The successful candidate will assist the Sports Information Director in all facets of the sports information office. They will assist with game management, including in-game stat keeping using DakStats software, coordinating webcasts of home events using Production Truck/Wirecast software, and other game day duties as assigned.
They will assist the SID with website management, including game stories and sport program updates. They will also promote University of Jamestown student-athletes and coaches across traditional and emerging media communication vehicles. A successful candidate will be able to help with the design and layout of several publications, historical research and accurate archiving of athletic records, and building photographical databases.
The Graduate Assistant will serve as in-house sports information representative when the SID is on the road with UJ teams. The Graduate Assistant may be required to travel with teams on certain occasions.
Requirements include: a familiarity with college sports, strong grasp of English language and ability to write coherent press releases and sports stories, and the willingness to learn on the fly. The successful applicant must be available for the majority of fall, winter, and spring; including evenings and weekends.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and must be accepted into University of Jamestown graduate school. Applicants should have strong oral and written communication skills. Previous experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, DakStats, and Microsoft Office software is a plus. University of Jamestown is seeking applicants for the position of Women’s Soccer graduate assistant (GA) for a 2-year period, beginning August 1, 2023. Qualified applicants will assist in fostering a highly competitive and positive team culture where high-quality relationships with fellow coaches and student-athletes are emphasized.
