UJ Awards Wilson Full-Tuition Scholarships
University of Jamestown (UJ) is excited to announce the four recipients of the 2025–2026 Wilson Scholarship Program, the university’s highest academic award providing full tuition for four years. For over 30 years, the Wilson Scholarship has recognized exceptional high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and strong character. Named in honor of former UJ president Dr. John L. Wilson, the program continues to reflect UJ’s commitment to educational access and student success.
“Wilson Scholarship Day is one of the highlights of our year,” said Alyson Leas, Director of Admissions. “These recipients bring remarkable passion and potential to UJ, and we are excited to welcome them into our community.”
Wilson Scholarship Day is held each November and January and invites accepted students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher to participate in faculty interviews, an on-campus writing assessment, and a personalized campus experience. Approximately 78 students compete annually, making the scholarship both selective and impactful.
January’s recipients include Baylen Erdmann of Auburn, Washington, who will study Mechanical Engineering and play on the Jimmie Football team; and Hayden Kok of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, who will major in Exercise Science and compete on the Jimmie Softball team.
This past November’s competition winners are Mara Kempel of Stirum, North Dakota, who will major in Exercise Science and becomes the third consecutive Wilson Scholar from Lisbon High School; and Kali Fike of Harvey, North Dakota, who plans to major in Nursing.
The Wilson Scholarship Program also highlights UJ’s commitment to affordability.
The university’s annual tuition is $24,720, with a total cost of attendance (Tuition, Housing, Meals, and Fees) of $36,508. Every full-time undergraduate receives financial aid, reducing the average annual tuition to approximately $16,000. In total, UJ awards more than $12.5 million in scholarships and grants each year.
“Families often ask what college really costs,” said Greg Ulland, Vice President of Enrollment Management. “At UJ, the answer is simple: no student pays full tuition. Our financial aid commitment makes private education accessible and life changing.”
Scholarship opportunities also remain available for incoming Fall 2026 freshmen. For more information or to apply, contact the Office of Admission at admission@uj.edu, call (701) 252-3467, or visit www.uj.edu.
