Scott Briske and his family

Scott Briske recently completed his second year as Principal at Forest Lake Elementary School in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Scott got his first teaching job in 2000. He served in that role for two years, before being called by the National Guard to go to Iraq. When he returned from his service, Scott taught for eight more years before accepting an administrative position, and two years later, his current job, which is also his first lead principal position.

He commented on his plans as Principal in the Harold Review: “As a school, I want to unite our building and I want to make sure we’re working as cohesive teams. We have some very, very gifted and talented teachers in this building, and I want to make sure we are utilizing them so students are the benefits of that. On a professional level, to build that culture where people are cohesively working together for the betterment of the students, that’s one of my big goals. And that translates into academics as well.”

Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from UJ in 2001.
