Jim Unruh

James A. Unruh has been named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who’s Who.

Mr. Unruh celebrates many years’ experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A financial services executive for a private equity firm and founding principal for Alerion Capital Group, LLC, in Scottsdale, Arizona, since 1998, Mr. Unruh’s dedication to the field has not only proved professionally fruitful, but has become tremendously rewarding on a personal level.

Entering into the business world in 1964, Mr. Unruh has consistently moved up, entering roles of vice president of finance for several companies, including with Burroughs Corporation, now known as Unisys Corporation, where he was promoted several times to senior vice president, executive vice president of finance, president, chief operating officer, chief executive officer, and chairman of the board.

Leaving the organization after 15 years of service to work for Alerion Capital Group, LLC, a venture capital and private equity firm that specializes in recapitalizations, management buyouts, leveraged buyouts, divestitures, strategic acquisition, industry consolidation, and so forth, the firm typically invests in hardware, IT services, as well as software. He has served on several boards over the years, including Prudential Financial Inc, Tenet Healthcare Corporation and CSG Systems International Inc. Mr. Unruh currently serves as trustee and chairman of the board for his alma mater at the University of Jamestown.

A current member of the Association for Corporate Growth, Mr. Unruh is the author of a book, “Customers Mean Business: Six Steps to Building Relationships That Last.” He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Jamestown College, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver, and a Doctor of Laws from Drexel University. He is the recipient of a N.D. National Leadership Award of Excellence, a CEO of the Year honoree of the Enterprise Awards, and recipient of an Eleanor Roosevelt Humanitarian Award. Married to Candice Leigh Voight since 1984, Mr. Unruh has been named to numerous editions of Who’s Who, to include Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World.

He graduated from UJ in 1963 with a BA in Business Administration.
