DPT Direct Entry

Direct Entry offers motivated students a streamlined path to secure early admission into the University of Jamestown Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. This opportunity is available to incoming freshmen as well as current UJ students who plan to pursue a career in physical therapy. While many Direct Entry DPT students major in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, exercise science, or nursing, applicants from other majors are also encouraged to apply.

Admission Criteria + How to Apply

Interested incoming freshmen must meet the following criteria:

  • Acceptance to the University of Jamestown
  • High school transcripts showing minimum 3.00 GPA (4.00 scale)

Application Process

  1. Fill out the Application for Direct Entry
  2. Complete the Essential Function Form.
    • The Essential Function Form will appear once you have submitted your Application for Direct Entry, above.
    • Please read the form completely and submit, as this is a binding certification that you meet the requirements of the program at the time of signing.
  3. Submit 2 letters of recommendation from a non-family member.
    • Recommendations can be attached in the Application for Direct Entry, above, or can be emailed directly to riley.spenningsby@uj.edu
  4. Complete an interview.
    • Your interview will be conducted by a University of Jamestown DPT admissions representative after all documents listed above have been submitted and reviewed.

Interested applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Current UJ student
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00
  • Minimum prerequisite GPA of 3.00 (4.00 scale)

  • Complete Essential Function Requirements
  • Complete a FERPA form (If you want others to have access to your student records and requires a UJ account to complete)
  • Two letters of recommendation from a non-family member (Form)
    • Recommendations can be sent directly from the reference to: University of Jamestown, 4190 26th Ave S, Fargo ND 58104 or emailed to Tara.Roesler@uj.edu
  • An interview will be conducted by a University of Jamestown Doctor of Physical Therapy Program admissions representative after all four documents (Application for Direct Entry, Essential Functions, and two letters of recommendation) as well as official transcripts are submitted.
