Meet Margaux Kautzmann – Giving Hearts Day
Why did you choose UJ?
I chose UJ for a few reasons. The scholarship availability, opportunity to participate in many activities, and the small class size all influenced my decision to become a Jimmie.
What are you involved with on campus and why?
I am the president of our Student Senate, play in the Wind Ensemble and Pep Band, participate in the Science Club, Welcome Weekend and I played hockey for two years. I initially learned about what UJ had to offer when I was recruited to play for the inaugural women’s hockey team and wind ensemble. I ran for senate after my team nominated me at the Fall Organization Fair. Every group that I have been involved with have put on events for the students or our community, and I love working on those events and connecting with students I wouldn’t meet otherwise.
Why should someone choose UJ to donate to for Giving Hearts Day?
A person that stands out to me at UJ would be Dr. Bruce Jensen. Not only is he an incredible professor and a great educator, but he is a great person too. He has the most interesting biology classes, and I have learned the most from him about coursework and life.
How have you been impacted by scholarship support?
When I was deciding on where to go to school, most state schools were actually more expensive for me than UJ. That is only because of donors like you who can make higher education more accessible and allow students who can make change in the world to learn at a great institution. Thank you for helping me obtain my degree and giving me the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful community.
Is there a particular person or event that stands out from your time at UJ?
The University of Jamestown is a special place that allows students to flourish not only academically, but spiritually and socially. I believe that we have some of the best people admitted here. Through your donation, we can continue to give our student body a good education and services during their time at UJ.
