Yulu Zhang, PhD

She is a chemist specializing in nanomaterials and their applications in energy conversion, catalysis, and advanced materials. Born in Yunnan, China, and a member of the Pumi ethnic minority, she is the first in her family to pursue a Ph.D. in science. She completed her undergraduate studies at Syracuse University and earned her Ph.D. at the University of Virginia, where her research focused on the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials.
