Grant Mehring has been hired in the NDSU Department of Plant Sciences as a research assistant professor.

Mehring, from Fargo, earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Jamestown in 2009, and his master’s degree and doctorate from NDSU.

While completing his doctoral degree, Mehring worked as an NDSU Extension agronomy research specialist.

Mehring’s work will concentrate on small grains research focusing on physiology with high throughput phenotyping through the use of sensors; working with the on-farm research network of producers as research director at the Minnesota Wheat Research and Promotion Council; and facilitating the prioritizing and funding of research projects from the corn checkoff dollars in North Dakota as research director at the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council.
