Student Life Awards: 2019-2020

Congratulations to the following organizations and individuals!

Spirit of the Journey Award: Julia Johnson

This award honors graduating seniors who embody the ideals of the University of Jamestown Journey to Success. This student demonstrates an exemplary level of achievement associated with the goals of the Journey to Success. The Spirit of the Journey Award is one of the most prestigious awards that a student can receive from the Office of Student Life. The recipients of this award must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must be graduating in the Spring of the given academic year.

First Year Excellence Award: Ruth Kpahn

The First Year Excellence Award is given to a first year student(s) who have demonstrated a pattern of success in their transition to the University of Jamestown. Student must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and must have completed 15 credit hours.

Outstanding Student Leader: Mackenzie Wertz

This award recognizes an outstanding student leader at the University of Jamestown who has demonstrated a pattern of success in all aspects of their college experience.

Outstanding Student Org. Advisor: Dr. Kit Uvino, The UJ Wildlife Society

The Outstanding Advisor Award recognizes a student organization advisor that has shown support for the student organization’s mission and its members as well as provided enthusiasm and encouragement throughout the school year.

Outstanding Student Organization: Jamestown Activities Board (JAB)

The Outstanding Organization Award honors a recognized student organization that demonstrates outstanding achievements that contribute significantly to the campus, local or global community.

Outstanding New Student Organization: Pie of the Month Club

The Best New Organization Award honors a student organization that has been recognized during the current school year and demonstrates outstanding achievements that contribute significantly to the campus, local, or global community.

Pay It Forward Award: Megan Bidwell

This award honors a student who consistently inspires others to do good deeds and serves as a role model to other students in their behavior, service to others, and their ability to exemplify what it means to be a Jimmie.

Most Active Group: UJ Nursing Student Association (NSA)

This award honors a recognized student organization that demonstrates an outstanding presence on campus and in the community. This group has consistently held meetings and successful events throughout the year.

Outstanding Program or Event: 16 Days of Activism: Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) presented by the UJ Golden Z Club

The Outstanding Program/Event Award goes to a student organization that created a program or event that promoted student involvement, bettered the campus community, and was delivered with goodwill and enthusiasm.

Outstanding Community Project: Trick-or-Can presented by UJ Student Senate

The Outstanding Community Project Award honors a student organization that has promoted student involvement and bettered the Jamestown community through service and civic engagement.
