Wes Worthen Invited to NFL Regional Combine

March 5 will see two University of Jamestown Jimmie football players trying to impress scouts at the NFL Regional Combine.

Defensive back Wes Worthen (SR/Columbus, GA) will join Jarelle Miller (SR/Orlando, FL) as the two Jimmies looking to further their football careers professionally.

Worthen was second on the Jimmies in tackles during the 2015 season. He recorded 72 total stops (42 solo), had 3.5 tackles for loss, intercepted a pair of passes, including one for a touchdown, and recovered two fumbles. In addition, Worthen was credited with five pass breakups.

The speedy corner has been spending extra time working on his 40-yard dash, aiming to run in the 4.4 range.

Even if the NFL doesn’t come calling, the two-time North Star Athletic Association all-conference selection is keeping his options open, and has been in contact with teams in Europe.

“I’m feeling pretty good about my chances, but if the NFL doesn’t work out, hopefully I’ll get an opportunity to play overseas somewhere.”
