Campus Counseling Services

The UJ Counseling Center is constructed to provide short-term solution-focused counseling and the services are free and confidential for our students. The Counseling Center is located on the second floor of the Badal Nafus Center accessed by the stairs next to the Knights Hall Dining Center.

The UJ Counseling Center is here to provide support and listen. We can also help you connect with local counseling providers. Our licensed counselors are not, by law, licensed to prescribe, manage or recommend medications.

Counselors

Megan Busch

Megan joined the UJ Counseling Center team in 2018. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Licensed Addiction Counselor in North Dakota. Megan’s past experiences include working with Prairie St. Johns and South Central Human Service Center. She is in the process of opening her private practice, Advance in Recovery. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and Sociology from Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) and her Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Susan Simle

Susan joined the UJ Counseling Center team in 2018. She is a licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in North Dakota and Minnesota. Susan has worked as a Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky and Illinois as well as a Case Manager in Minnesota. She is currently a private practitioner and owner of Healing Hearts Counseling. Susan earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Home Economics from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and her Masters in Social Work from Louisiana State University.

Chaplain Candace Adams

Chaplain Candace Adams is an ordained Presbyterian minister and joined UJ in 2017. She holds a B.A. with a major in psychology, a Master of Divinity with a concentration in pastoral care and counseling and a Doctor of Ministry with a focus on spiritual practices. She has 23 years of experience providing pastoral care and counseling. Issues that she is trained to assist individuals with include: grief and loss; relationship issues; Christian beliefs, convictions and spiritual practices; spiritual discernment; unforgiveness; spiritual brokenness; distorted images of God; etc.

Psychiatric and Human Services

South Central Human Service Center is one of eight regional human service centers within the North Dakota Department of Human Services. The center provides a wide range of human services. Mission: Our mission is to provide quality, efficient, and effective human services, which improve the lives of people.

The staff may include professionals trained in the following specialties: psychiatry, psychology, addiction counseling, social work, counseling, case management, nursing, and vocational rehabilitation. Some services may be provided through contracts.

Central Valley Health Services

The mission of the Central Valley Health District is the promotion of optimal community health.In addition to, providing comprehensive health services to Jamestown, North Dakota and surrounding communities in Stutsman and Logan counties, the Central Valley Health District (CVHD) is the lead agency for eight counties in southeast central North Dakota. Programs include: Nursing, Environmental Health, Family Planning, WIC, Women’s Way, Tobacco Prevention, Emergency Preparedness and Response, HIV/STD testing, Immunizations, Car Seat and Safety, OPOP (Optimal Pregnancy Outcome Program), School Health, and The Sexual Assault Response Team.
