Newspaper & Literary Journal
Learn about UJ’s two publication, The Collegian and Plainsong, and learn about podcasting opportunities.
Be creative and stay informed.
A great way to get involved on campus is to both publish your work and review campus publications. University of Jamestown has two publications:
- The Collegian: UJ’s official student newspaper and podcast production resource
- Plainsong: The art and literary journal of University of Jamestown
The Collegian
Until 2018, The Collegian was exclusively printed on paper. Now, to provide a more accessible option for students, The Collegian is online for computers, laptops, and tablets! In January, 2020, The Collegian began offering students the opportunity to produce podcasts in our state-of-the-art podcast booth.
As of 2021, The Collegian is completely student-led with the faculty supervision of Assistant Professor of Communication Studies, Malcom Jason.
The Collegian is open to all students at UJ to write articles, take pictures, and produce podcasts. Meetings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in Taber 314 from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
If you are interested in joining or participating in The Collegian, please email malcolm.jason@uj.edu.
Plainsong
Plainsong is the art and literary journal of University of Jamestown. It is published once per year by the Department of English. Any member of the University of Jamestown campus is welcome to submit original works of art for publication. The editorial board for Plainsong is made up of the faculty of the English Department.
