The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), the largest division of the American Library Association (ALA), represents academic libraries including the University of Jamestown’s Raugust Library. In January of 2016, the ACRL adopted the Framework for for Information Literacy in Higher Education.
The ACRL identified the following 6 concepts at central to students’ information literacy:
Authority Is Constructed and Contextual
Information Creation as a Process
Information has Value
Research as Inquiry
Scholarship as Conversation
Searching as Strategic Exploration
Raugust Library works to support information literacy in UJ students by aligning teaching and research with the concepts above.
