Head Coach – Shooting Sports

The University of Jamestown (NAIA), located in Jamestown, N.D., is accepting applications for a Head Coach for its newly announced co-ed Shooting Sports program.

UJ is elevating its club trapshooting program to a competitive shooting sports team, including the addition of archery, which will begin competing during the 2019-2020 academic year.

The opening is a 10 month-full-time position responsible for the development and eventual oversight of the program. Responsibilities include program operation, recruiting, and practice and competition management. The successful candidate will report to the Dean of Engagement and Student Affairs.

Bachelor’s degree required. Related experience in a recreational sports setting or an equivalent combination of education and collegiate shooting experience. Previous collegiate coaching experience preferred as well as knowledge of ATA, NCSA, NSSA, and USA Shooting rules. A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept and a working knowledge of archery and trapshooting rules and regulations is required. Additional requirements include strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills, the ability to work well in a team environment, and the capacity to model mature, responsible leadership. The candidate must be willing to work weekends and holidays and travel with the team to competitions.
