Federal Direct Loans

Required processes such as MPN, Entrance Counseling, etc:

o Available to students who are enrolled at least half-time (six credits), in a degree seeking program and demonstrate financial need
o Interest rate is currently a fixed percentage and may change from year to year. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) pays the interest on Subsidized Direct Loans while the student is enrolled in school at least half-time
o Interest accrues on Unsubsidized Direct Loans while student is enrolled
o Subject to an origination fee that may change from year to year
o ED is the lender; payment is owed to ED
Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan is a credit based unsubsidized loan for parents of dependent students. This loan is designed to assist with educational expenses up to the cost of attendance minus all other financial assistance. Students whose parents are denied this loan may be eligible for additional Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans. Parent PLUS Loans are subject to origination fees.
Private Alternative Loans are private education credit based loans that are offered by several financial lending institutions. Prospective borrowers may qualify for loans or other assistance under the Title IV, HEA programs. Terms and conditions of the Title IV, HEA program loans may be more favorable than the provisions of the private education loans. It is recommended that students exhaust all federal, state and university scholarships or grants, and federal subsidized direct loans before seeking a private loan.

Monthly Payment Plan for Undergraduate Students

University of Jamestown participates in a custom billing payment plan administered by Tuition Management Systems. This option can help ease payment of college costs. Monthly payments are interest free. No credit checks or finance charges apply. An enrollment fee is required. You may change the amount budgeted and the monthly payments after enrollment if changes in financial aid, scholarships or loan amounts occur.
