Faculty Positions

    The University of Jamestown Department of Nursing seeks a Clinical Instructor for pediatric in-patient clinical experiences at Sanford Health. Clinical experiences will be Sunday/Monday days (6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) with preconference on Saturday evenings (this time is negotiable). Clinicals will take place Sept. 26-Nov. 29, 2021. No clinicals Oct. 10-11, Oct. 17-18, or Nov. 21-22. The successful candidate will be paid for each hour worked – clinicals, preparing for clinical, correcting paperwork, and student evaluations.     The University of Jamestown is seeking an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering to begin in January of 2022. This position is a full-time teaching position. The selected individual will develop and teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the Department of Engineering. Potential course topics could include surveying, hydrologic engineering, geotechnical engineering, and wastewater treatment. Other duties include active participation in the expansion and development of the engineering program, student advising, and service to the university. Research activities are highly encouraged. Qualified candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates as well as knowledge of pedagogical theory in STEM fields.


    The position requires a minimum of a Master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, active registration as a PE, and prior experience in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with or who are currently pursuing a Ph.D., have demonstrated excellence in teaching, have significant industry experience, and have additional relevant certifications (including LEED and OSHA).

    The Department of Engineering was started in 2016 and has a small, interdisciplinary faculty. It currently offers undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering and environmental science. The Department combines a rigorous professional education with the goals of a liberal arts institution to create engineering and science graduates who are leaders, critical thinkers, and problem solvers.

    The University of Jamestown seeks a visionary, collaborative, creative, and forward-thinking individual to lead this new PhD degree program. This PhD degree program will be blended: a combination of online and in-person learning experiences. Relocation is not required. The successful candidate will implement the degree program, providing doctoral students the tools needed to succeed in education and academia. Collaboration with the Provost’s office, and the Physical Therapy Program chair is required to promote the mission of the college throughout the University community, and the national and international healthcare professions.     The concept of the development of a new Doctor of Philosophy degree in Clinical Research arose from the needs of the Physical Therapy Program at the University of Jamestown (located in Fargo, ND), and the need for academic doctoral degrees in physical therapy educators. The Physical Therapy Program has forged community partnerships to facilitate faculty scholarship and engagement in research related to physical therapy practice.

    The University of Jamestown Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program is hiring for a core faculty who will contribute to the mission of the University of Jamestown and the DPT program.


    Core Faculty Position Responsibilities

    The position is a 12-month full time commitment with teaching and clinical practice in our pro bono clinic being the primary responsibilities. Teaching includes course development, primary instruction, team-teaching, and participation in curricular meetings. Clinical practice includes providing patient care at our outpatient pro bono clinic serving people who are uninsured or underinsured and mentoring students. The program invites applicants with clinical experience in orthopedics to apply.


    As a full time faculty member, service and the development of an active scholarly research agenda will also be required. Service may include participation in admission activities, program committee work, accreditation work, and other activities assigned by the UJPT Program Director.


      Minimum Qualifications

    • DPT degree
    • 3 or more years clinical experience as a physical therapist primarily in orthopedics or general outpatient practice

Staff Positions

    The University of Jamestown seeks a full-time bus driver who carries a Class A or B commercial driver’s license with passenger and air brake endorsements.


    Bus Driving Duties Include:

    • Willingness to work weekends during the academic year and willing to spend multiple days overnight on the road with athletic teams and student groups.
    • Perform all out of town trip needs (e.g. food, fuel, lodging, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring all out of town procedures are followed and completed.
    • Prepares reports (e.g. field trips reports, incident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, routing information, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, conveying information, and/or complying with established guidelines

    The University of Jamestown, Jamestown, N.D., seeks applicants for a full-time (10-month) Chaplain to begin in the fall of 2021. The Chaplain will report to the President and will serve to meet the spiritual needs of the University community as well as be an educational resource for the University’s programs and departments. The Chaplain will oversee worship, servant leadership and vocational discernment, and must be committed to working closely with a diverse student body. He/she will co- direct the University Foundations program and serve as a liaison to area churches. He/she will work collaboratively with the Vice President of Student Affairs to create programming that inspires spiritual growth and opportunity for students, staff and faculty.

    • Create a vision and oversee a robust campus ministry plan that allows students to explore, expand and embrace their faith. The plan shall include worship, Bible studies, service opportunities, compassionate care, prayer gatherings, fellowship opportunities, apologetics dialogues, discipleship and missional outreach.
    • Recruit and equip student ministry leaders.
    • Schedule and attend weekly meetings with each ministry team to plan, execute and evaluate ministry opportunities. Meetings shall include opportunities for students to cultivate their faith through biblical engagement and prayer.
    • Offer pastoral care and pastoral counseling to students, staff and faculty. When appropriate, refer individuals to a UJ mental health counselor and collaborate with the Vice President of Student Affairs or the Student Affairs Coordinator to arrange these service.
    • Coordinate the University’s special worship services and faith-based celebrations.
    • Play an integral role in components of the Journey to Success experience, including service learning and vocational exploration.
    • Serve as co-director of UJ Foundations: prepare coursework, recruit instructors and peer leaders and co-teach the peer leader class.
    • Create a culture of service: work with the coordinator of Champion of Character; collaborate with student service organization i.e. Students of Service, Samaritans Feet and Habitat for Humanity; teach a one-credit Junior-level service project course for the Character in Leadership program.

    DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

      Student Activities
    • Plan, implement and evaluate co-curricular student activities, providing a welcoming, fun campus environment that supports student recruitment, retention and the successful achievement of academic and career goals.
    • Oversee and assist in developing activities, events and programs designed for the social, cultural and instructional development of students.
    • Manage, in conjunction with UJ Activities Board, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Semi-Formal, Jimmie Jive Week, etc.
    • Responsible for event management and student activities risk management procedures.
    • Create effective marketing strategies for programs and events.

      UJ Counseling Center/Support Services
    • Manage the UJ Counseling Center overseeing scheduling, follow-up, and tracking of student caseload.

    • Develop caring relationships with students and assist students through their higher education journey.
    • Provide guidance to students for navigating non-academic resources on campus and connect students with academic support opportunities.


      Student Organizations

      New Student Orientation Programs
    • Plan, develop, lead, evaluate and manage all aspects of the new student orientation programs.

    • Lead the New Student Orientation Steering Committee through the yearly planning process.

    Job Description

    This position will manage the University’s public-facing WordPress website (https://www.uj.edu), database, and LAMP server.


      Responsibilities include:

    • Monitoring general server resources (CPU, bandwidth, disk space, RAM) to ensure that the website continues to function well.
    • Managing web content that is provided (forms, PDFs, images, and other types of content).
    • Managing webserver software and updates (WordPress, SSL Certificates, and other general software updates).
    • Support other UJ employees with their website-related needs.

      Academic Support

    • Organize weekly academic check-in group meetings for all new players
    • Track study hours
    • Monitor tutor use- players meet 1 per week, class of choice

    • Travel Logistics

    • Create travel itinerary for each road trip
    • Transportation reservation & Driver pre-trip driver contact
    • Confirm Hotel reservations and room list
    • Set eating locations
    • Meet with men’s staff for clarity on meals/bus schedule
    • Completed 4 days prior to travel
    • Complete Cleary Act documentation

    • Community Service/Connection

    • Organize monthly community service events for player development
    • Create events to increase community involvement at games
    • Schedule practice clinics for area youth teams

    • Skill Development

    • Individual player improvement

    • Scouting Reports

    • Complete ½ of season scouts- personnel, keys to success, opponent sets and film edits
    • Completed for staff scout meeting 2 days before game
    • Game reviews- stat breakdown, lineup advantages, film edit for team review

    • Administrative Duties

    • Program Organization
    • Assigned duties

    • Practice

    • Court/Equip prep
    • Communicate individual areas of focus to players
    • Actively connect with players
    • Be an encourager & communicator

    • Recruiting

    • Find recruits to add to list- awards lists, aau, emails
    • Follow-up on interest forms and emails
    • Create visit details/schedules- 2 days prior
    • Weekly contacts with assigned recruits
    • Administrative organization

    • Camps

    • Assist with camp organization
    • Execute Camp duties during event

    • Other duties as assigned
