    The University of Jamestown is seeking an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering to begin in January of 2022. This position is a full-time teaching position. The selected individual will develop and teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the Department of Engineering. Potential course topics could include surveying, hydrologic engineering, geotechnical engineering, and wastewater treatment. Other duties include active participation in the expansion and development of the engineering program, student advising, and service to the university. Research activities are highly encouraged. Qualified candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates as well as knowledge of pedagogical theory in STEM fields.


    The position requires a minimum of a Master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, active registration as a PE, and prior experience in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with or who are currently pursuing a Ph.D., have demonstrated excellence in teaching, have significant industry experience, and have additional relevant certifications (including LEED and OSHA).

    The Department of Engineering was started in 2016 and has a small, interdisciplinary faculty. It currently offers undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering and environmental science.     The Department of English at the University of Jamestown invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of English in American literature beginning August 2022. This a permanent, full-time position.

    Qualifications: Doctorate in American literature and college-level teaching experience required. We are a small department, so flexibility in interest and qualifications is an asset.

    Responsibilities: The University of Jamestown is primarily a teaching institution. Candidate will teach a 4-4 load, including a two-course American literature survey, advanced courses in American literature, and introductory composition courses. At least two courses per semester will be freshman composition. The ideal candidate would also have experience in business and/or technical writing.

    The University of Jamestown seeks a visionary, collaborative, creative, and forward-thinking individual to lead this new PhD degree program. This PhD degree program will be blended: a combination of online and in-person learning experiences. Relocation is not required. The successful candidate will implement the degree program, providing doctoral students the tools needed to succeed in education and academia. Collaboration with the Provost’s office, and the Physical Therapy Program chair is required to promote the mission of the college throughout the University community, and the national and international healthcare professions. Recruiting and hiring, and the overseeing of faculty teaching within the PhD program is essential. The successful candidate will have a well-developed scholarly agenda, with evidence of external funding, and multidisciplinary activities, which will complement and expand the existing expertise at the university.

    The concept of the development of a new Doctor of Philosophy degree in Clinical Research arose from the needs of the Physical Therapy Program at the University of Jamestown (located in Fargo, ND), and the need for academic doctoral degrees in physical therapy educators. The university provides an environment that encourages education and scholarship of faculty, with a PhD program becoming the cornerstone of this philosophy. The Physical Therapy Program has forged community partnerships to facilitate faculty scholarship and engagement in research related to physical therapy practice.

    The University of Jamestown Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program is hiring for a core faculty who will contribute to the mission of the University of Jamestown and the DPT program.


    Core Faculty Position Responsibilities

    The position is a 12-month full time commitment with teaching and clinical practice in our pro bono clinic being the primary responsibilities. Teaching includes course development, primary instruction, team-teaching, and participation in curricular meetings. Clinical practice includes providing patient care at our outpatient pro bono clinic serving people who are uninsured or underinsured and mentoring students. The program invites applicants with clinical experience in orthopedics to apply.


    As a full time faculty member, service and the development of an active scholarly research agenda will also be required. Service may include participation in admission activities, program committee work, accreditation work, and other activities assigned by the UJPT Program Director.

    • 3 or more years clinical experience as a physical therapist primarily in orthopedics or general outpatient practice

    The University of Jamestown (Jamestown, ND) is seeking a full-time faculty instructor in Spanish. This position includes teaching Spanish language and cultural classes equal to 12 load credits each term, in addition to normal service and scholarship requirements for full-time faculty.     Admissions Counselors assist students seeking to continue their education. Admissions counselors are based out of our office located centrally in Phoenix, AZ. This role is the first impression for prospective students and fosters counselor-student relationships. Admissions counselors are adept at advising students as they begin their degree program to ensure long-term student success, retention and ultimately career placement. We believe that counselors will support their students for entirety of their academic journey and ultimately guide them to graduation.

    The University of Jamestown, located in Jamestown, ND, is seeking applications for an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full time, 10-month position, with full benefit package.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    The selected candidate reports to the Head Athletic Trainer and will be responsible for assisting in the management and care of the athletic teams at the University of Jamestown.  Candidate will assist with the supervision and coverage of 20 varsity and junior varsity sports.  The candidate must demonstrate the ability and knowledge of injury prevention programs, injury evaluation, injury treatment, and rehabilitation of student athletes.

    Candidate will have home game coverage, practice coverage, maintaining of medical records, and away travel considerations (less than 10%) with assigned teams as necessary.

    The University of Jamestown seeks a full-time custodian to join our Physical Plant staff. The position works Monday through Friday, 6:00 am – 3:00 pm.


      Duties May Include:

    • Cleaning areas as assigned to include common areas, laundry room, restrooms, etc. of the facilities.

    The Director of Residence Life and Public Safety is a full-time professional staff member reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students.  Department staff will include the Director, Coordinator, Graduate Assistant, Resident Directors, Assistant Resident Director, and Resident Assistants.  They oversee student residential facilities through staff development, residential education, individual student engagement, and programmatic offerings.  Additionally, the department oversees UJ’s Student Code of Conduct as well as campus wide public safety and Clery Act reporting. Residence Life and Public Safety provide students with a living/learning environment that is an integral part of the total educational purpose by creating and maintaining a guided, group living experience for the personal, scholarship, and social improvement of the individual resident.

    DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

    Residence Life

    • Manage campus residential facilities and occupancy.
    • Hire, train, and supervise staff to include Coordinator, Graduate Assistant, Assistant Resident Director, Resident Directors, and Resident Assistants.
    • Manage Student Code of Conduct and judicial processes.
    • Oversee staff development and implementation of social, educational, cultural, service, and recreational programming.
    • Manage departmental budget.
    • Maintains the safety and well-being of residential students by organizing health and safety inspections and by conducting fire and tornado drills.
    • Respond to individual concerns of parents, students, and interested parties in relation to residential housing contracts and assignments.
    • Manage emergency protocol response for residence hall staff and provide on-call support as needed.
    • Assist and mentor students on an individual and group basis regarding personal, academic, and housing-related concerns, including roommate conflicts.

    Public Safety

    • Oversee public safety programs, policies, and procedures.
    • Analyze and interpret federal, state and local laws related to Higher Education safety (Clery Act, Violence Against Women Act, etc.).
    • Manages the University’s Clery Act compliance program, including the development of policies and procedures and tracking corrective actions to completion.
    • Prepares, publishes, and distributes federally regulated reports including the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report and the Biennial Review.
    • Facilitate annual training for Campus Security Authorities on responsibilities under the Clery Act.
    • Manage and maintain the University’s Emergency Preparedness Plan.
    • Manage Emergency Notification and Timely Warning processes.

    WORK & EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

    Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree preferred.

    Learning and Development Product Manager

    The goal of the Learning & Development Product Manager is to establish processes to ensure
    student success and engagement from entry through completion of their program. This position
    will manage the content development for the Professional Studies department of University of
    Jamestown, while simultaneously monitoring the creation of quality content and learning
    resources for the UJ Accelerated division.


    The Learning & Development Product Manager will be a remote position with possible limited
    travel to Arizona and/or North Dakota. The ideal candidate for this position will bring experience
    in innovative curriculum development and dynamic training of adult learners. As the Learning &
    Development Product Manager there are three areas of focus: Curriculum development, faculty
    training and support, and division effectiveness planning. Additional responsibilities include:

    • Ensure ADA compliance standards are met in all instructional content
    • Conduct regular research on topics such as:
      • Instructional approaches to engage learners (students and faculty)
      • Job skill needs aligned to current and future program offerings
      • Competency-based education and how the curriculum team can improve content development processes
    • Regularly review HLC regulations and expectations for faculty training and student course curriculum updates
    • Engage with the Director of Assessment to create, administer, and analyze survey data
    • Collaborate with the Instructional Designer and faculty to effectively develop and deploy assessments that align to learning outcomes and course objectives
    • Identify opportunities for improvement in processes and delivery of curriculum content, faculty support, and student journey


    Qualifications and Experience

    • Undergraduate degree in related field required or 5+ years of work experience in related field
    • 5+ years of experience required in using and building curriculum in a Learning Management System
    • 3+ years of experience required in creating and editing instructional videos
    • 3+ years of experience required in creating instructional documents
    • Preferred: 1+ year of experience using Adobe Captivate or similar software for curriculum development
    • Self-starter
    • Highly organized and comfortable managing time to accomplish multiple projects
    • Creative problem-solver

    Job Description

    This position will manage the University’s public-facing WordPress website (https://www.uj.edu), database, and LAMP server.


      Responsibilities include:

    • Monitoring general server resources (CPU, bandwidth, disk space, RAM) to ensure that the website continues to function well.
    • Managing web content that is provided (forms, PDFs, images, and other types of content).
    • Managing webserver software and updates (WordPress, SSL Certificates, and other general software updates).
    • Support other UJ employees with their website-related needs.


    Knowledge/Skill Requirements

      Requirements:

    • Bachelor degree or comparable experience
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to work independently, with other users and meet deadlines
    • Understanding of basic programming concepts (objects, arrays, loops, etc)
    • Moderate to high-level confidence with PHP, HTML, and CSS
    • Ability to work with a LAMP server through SSH
    • Ability to work with an FTP server.


      Plusses:

    • Experience with WordPress
    • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    • Experience with Apache configuration
    • Experience with databases (SQL)
    • Moderate to high-level confidence with JavaScript
    • Ability to do basic BASH scripting.
