    The University of Jamestown invites applications for the position of Director of Libraries to begin in the summer of 2021. The Director leads the libraries in their mission to meet the needs of a university spread across two physical campuses and into cyberspace, articulates a strategic vision, and serves as an advocate for the libraries within the university and larger community.


    The Director of Libraries is the chief administrator for the university’s libraries, which includes Raugust Library in Jamestown, Zaruba Library in Fargo, the digital collections for the university students online, and the University Archives. The Director of Libraries reports to the Provost and is responsible for the successful administration of the libraries in accordance with the mission of the University of Jamestown and its policies and procedures. The Director holds faculty status.


    The Director provides strategic, operational, and collaborative leadership for the libraries. S/he

    • Facilitates the continuing transformation of the libraries into a knowledge commons that integrates diverse resources, seeks new opportunities, engages with the community, collaborates with university units, and sustains a vibrant learning community.
    • Creates an environment that facilitates research and scholarly activity with an understanding of innovative and traditional methods of information dissemination.
    • Establishes a shared vision that promotes the university’s and the libraries’ missions and strategic plans.
    • Supports a culture of collegiality that is supportive of professional advancement.
    • Fosters an organizational and educational climate that promotes and celebrates diversity.
    • Communicates internally and externally the activities of the libraries.
    • Develops and maintains good relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community.
    • Works with library staff and academic department chairs to identify, evaluate, and implement programs that improve services and enhance the quality of resources.
    • Functions as chief fiscal officer for the libraries and provides clear communication about the budget.
    • Acts as an advocate for the libraries and their faculty and staff.
    • Promotes the libraries, formally and informally, to the university, community and the world.
    • Participates actively in local, state, and national library organizations.


    A master’s degree in Library Science or similar area of study is required; an additional advanced degree is preferred. Previous experience and evidence of increasing levels of responsibility in a university library are required.

    The University of Jamestown is seeking two full-time Faculty of Nursing whose responsibilities will include didactic teaching, skills lab, and clinical experiences for the undergraduate nursing student. Rank will be dependent on qualifications. Both positions will entail working closely with nursing faculty, students, and staff. Teaching will be with BSN students, in face-to-face courses. Course delivery modality will continue be supplemented as needed to accommodate COVID precautions. Added responsibility may include coordination and leadership of the RN to BSN program, depending on candidate experience.


    The ideal candidate will possess an unencumbered RN license, or be eligible for licensure, in the State of North Dakota. Candidate must have a minimum of a master’s degree in nursing or be currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program and be able to show satisfactory progress in that program and commit to complete the degree. Teaching experience is preferred, but not necessary.

Staff Positions

    The University of Jamestown Office of Admissions seeks an Applicant and Prospect Coordinator. The position requires a bachelor’s degree. The preferred applicant will also have at least one year of experience in an office setting. Experience with data entry, attention to detail, and self-motivation are a must.


    The Applicant and Prospect Coordinator serves as the data analyst in the Office of Admissions. They are also the primary processor for items such as inquiries, applications, and transcripts. Daily duties include processing such items into the software and distributing information to the appropriate campus contacts. Weekly duties include completion of various data reports and entry and/or maintenance of student information within the software. The Applicant and Prospect Coordinator also helps to oversee the office’s marketing communications, including providing mailing reports to various contracted printers.

    The University of Jamestown is seeking an experienced professional to assume the role of Chief Financial Officer. The CFO position reports to the Executive Vice President and VP of Business Affairs and is responsible for implementing policies and procedures that strengthen the overall fiscal operations of the University. The position will attend cabinet meetings from time to time as needed and serves as the financial advisor to the President. He or she will regularly provide financial reports to the President and Board of Trustees and will be involved in institutional policy development.


    Areas of responsibility include financial services, audit and compliance, cash flow management, capital improvement planning, annual planning and budget development, human resources, the bookstore, service department and long-range financial planning that supports the development and successful implementation of the University’s Strategic Plan.


    The successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree in business administration, accounting or related field from an accredited college or university; a minimum of seven years of demonstrated, successful, progressively responsible experience. Although not required, preference will be given to candidates with higher education experience. Knowledge of computer applications, online technologies and an interest in working in a faith-based institution committed to balancing the ideals of a liberal arts education with sound professional programs a strong plus.


    Special skills and abilities expected of the Chief Financial Officer include: strong management, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills; an excellent record of leadership in planning, assessment, finance, and project management; demonstrated expertise in the development and implementation of strategic financial plans; strong working knowledge of financial and information technologies; effective written and oral communication skills; strong team leadership with demonstrated willingness and ability to work openly and collaboratively with internal and external constituencies; ability to build a culture of hospitality and customer service throughout the University.
