Boya Quichocho(’08) & Danny White(’08) Earn Tournament Honors

Source: Jamestown Sun
This year’s state amateur baseball tournaments saw a few UJ alumni take MVP honors.

For Class AAA MVP Boya Quichocho it’s the fourth time he’s earned the top award—the most of any player since 2000.

Danny White, of the Jamestown Tarno Townies(Class A), also took home an MVP honor.

Quichocho’s nine-inning gem on the mound on Sunday led the Jamestown Elks to a 4-1 win over the Bismarck Blue Jackets.

Quichocho, who also earned MVP honors in 2010, 2012 and 2014 for the Elks, also had the game-winning hits in the semifinal and championship games. Pitching-wise Sunday, the associate head coach of the University of Jamestown baseball team, allowed just one run on seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Offensively, he went 4-for-11 with three RBI and three runs scored.

White, a former standout for the Blue Jays and Jimmies, earned his first amateur MVP award in helping the Jamestown Tarno Townies claim the Class A crown.

White was dominant on the mound and did damage at the plate.

The left-hander fired a four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts in the Townies’ 2-0 win over Tolna. In nine at bats, White had four hits, including a home run, double, four runs and two RBI in helping the Townies to their first state title since 2012.

Boya and Danny both graduated from University of Jamestown in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Health & Fitness Administration. Quichocho minored in coaching and White minored in communication.
