‘Take Back the Night’ Oct. 28

In observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, University of Jamestown is hosting a “Take Back the Night” event at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28 in Voorhees Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.

Attendees will view a video, “Why I Take a Stand,” featuring members of the University of Jamestown community and produced by Caleb Grossman, Student Advocacy Coordinator.

Guest speaker Cindy Grimm of the Life After Fear Organization will follow. A walk from the chapel to the campus main entrance will conclude the event. Attendees will carry 115 pairs of shoes during the walk to symbolize last year’s 115 victims of domestic violence in Stutsman County. The shoes have been placed around the University of Jamestown campus and will be on display at the Buffalo Mall Nov. 23-25, sponsored by Zonta.

The event is sponsored by University of Jamestown Office of Student Life, Zonta, Safe Shelter and Jamestown Martial Arts Academy.
