Students break record with ‘Trick-or-Can’ effort

University of Jamestown student volunteers collected more than 2,700 items during the Student Senate’s annual “Trick or Can” door-to-door food drive for the Community Action Food Pantry on Oct. 29.

About 50 students making up eight teams participated in the effort. A team from Jimmie track and field collected the most items (732), and a team from the Nursing Student Association collected the most items per team member (75).

The Trick or Can event illustrates the “Look Outward” component of the University of Jamestown Journey to Success, which encourages students to look inward to examine their interests and goals; look outward to use their strengths for service; look beyond to learn about other people and cultures; and look forward as they prepare for careers or further study.
