Booth space filling up for Community Block Party
Community Block Party

Booth space is filling up for the sixth annual Community Block Party to be held Aug. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. along First Avenue in Jamestown. The event welcomes Jamestown College students to the community at the beginning of the school year.

The deadline to reserve booth space is Aug. 9. Businesses and organizations may sign up online. There is no charge for booth space.

“It’s great to get into the community and show everyone what you offer,” says Coborn’s manager Josh Vraa. “It’s a fun time, and you get to meet new people at one of the biggest events in Jamestown.”

Last year’s Block Party grew to more than 80 booths with more than 3,000 people attending. Entertainment includes inflatable games, worm mobile, food, prize drawings, dunk tank, contests, free giveaways and more.

“This event introduces the community to the wonderful students who attend Jamestown College year after year,” says Lisa Hicks, event co-chair. “It also helps promote relationships between the community and businesses.”

All first-year students will attend as part of orientation activities. Upper-class students, faculty and staff will also represent Jamestown College.

“We surveyed first-year students and found that a lot of them listed the Block Party as their favorite event of New Student Orientation,” says Lori Listopad, Director of New Student Orientation. “We see our upper-class students come back each and every year because they love it.”
